Rock Climbing Update

Warmer weather is here and tomorrow I’m off for a days climbing on Dow Crag but first here’s a brief update on the outdoor climbing that I’ve done so far this year.

Whitestones – seconded Cracked Wall (HS) and Moose (HS), all very straightforward.

Stonestar – led a climb that had previously sandbagged me, but still struggled to find the hidden hold on Stonestar Groove (HS).

Tilberthwaite Quarry – failed to top rope Big Tree Corner (E1) six weeks ago. Returned last night with Dan who led Christmas Cracker (HS) and Kick Off (HVS 5a).

Raven Crag Walthwaite – Sue led Walthwaite Gulley (VS 4b, 4c) and I brought her and Frank up Route 2 (HS)

Wallowbarrow – Thomas (S) of course, led three pitches as Dan was still finding his feet. Dan led Wall and Corner (VDiff). I Finally led Maladiction Direct (VS) a few weeks ago.  Added the delightful Digitation (MVS) last week. Forgot about slightly hidden (from above) foothold on the crux and found myself wondering why it was so difficult. Dan led the second pitch and added a continuation/variation finish.

Looking to start pushing bit more now, and looking forward to climbing on Dow.
