I’m sure you know what it is like with a fractious hungry family? We went to the newly opened Swan Hotel Newby Bridge for dinner to be told that they were only serving residents from 5.00-9.00 pm!!
Plan B turned out to be a winner, we decided to go to the Whitewater at Backbarrow which had also recently reopened after the floods last November.
We were greeted by the Operations Manager James Beech who offered us exemplary service and a lovely table out on the terrace overlooking the river.
Myself and my lad had an excellent battered hake with chips and peas accompanied by bread and butter with tartare sauce (homemade at a guess).
The blonde had a delicate chicken curry Malaysian style and all dishes were really well cooked and presented.
We will undoubtedly return!
