Swan Hotel Newby Bridge

After a frankly fraught early evening in the company of a bored pre teen I decided the only way to rescue the evening was with a meal out. Being near Xmas our first couple of choices were full of people wearing Xmas hats so we decided to try the bar at the Swan Hotel.

I plumped for cottage pie and the blonde had corned beef hash. The pre-teen ordered chicken goujons and the helpful staff changed the mash for chips. The childrens meal at £4.50 is true value as it seemed to be home made as far as I could tell.

The bar was quiet, relaxing and and the food was great.

What more could you ask?  The pre-teen had his Nintendo DS an esential for the 21st century parents looking for a stress free meal!
