Back To The Wall and Set In Stone

January 21, 2009

After a month spent drinking beer and eating too much I returned to Kendal climbing wall for the usual Tuesday night session. It was packed and finding a line to climb on wasn’t easy so we warmed up on the easy sections. I usually try not to tire myself out straight way and climb progressively [...]

Middlesborough v Barrow AFC 3rd Round FA Cup

January 9, 2009

On Saturday I delivered my Christmas present to my 14 year old football mad nephew – a trip to the Riverside to watch Barrow AFC take on Gareth Southgate’s Premiership strugglers Middlesborough in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Along with 6,998 others we left Cumbria and in our case travelled by coach to [...]

Gummers Howe Walk

January 7, 2009

The route starts [...]

I plumped [...]

Skiing in the Lake District

December 8, 2008

My legs are aching today because yesterday I went skiing. Not on a dry ski slope or at an indoor venue, but real skiing on real snow.
The venue was Swinhope Moor, just outside the North East boundary of Cumbria off the A687 Alston to Barnard Castle road.
We took the direct route via Brough and some [...]

Ohhhhhh, Barrow AFC, Barrow AFC, Barrow AFC, Barrow AFC

November 29, 2008

Barrow AFC beat 2nd Division Brentford 2-1 last night to progress to the third round of the FA Cup and a possible tie with a Premiership club.  Congratulations to Barrow AFC, their supporters and everyone connected with the club.
Just one year ago Barrow were three from bottom of the Blue Square North league, but since [...]
